Alex is 8 years old, and a smart, funny, happy little boy who also has Autism. He was diagnosed at 2 years 11 months old. At the very beginning of our journey into this new world, it was so very overwhelming. There was so much information, but at the same time, not enough. Your whole world is turned upside down, and the hopes and dreams you had for your child had to be changed. Even though having a child given a diagnosis is life-changing, not all of it is bad. The loving community that is behind these children welcome you in, and make you feel at home. You will always have an understanding ear and a friend.
Alex is amazing; there really is no other way to describe him. He has overcome so much and is learning new things each day! I am so very proud of the little boy he has turned out to be! I know the future for him is bright because of the things out there that he has been offered. We do need to make a change though; the numbers are climbing fast. 1 in 88 is just astounding. Please help us make a difference.
