My son name is Grant. He is my blessing. Due to diabetes, it was very hard for us to have a child. After having several miscarriages, we were blessed to finally have one little strong guy stick in there. From the first ultrasound, he was just bouncing away...and haven't stopped since. At the age of 3,.Grant didn't talk, couldn't do very much for himself, and didn't show interest in anything Spongebob. It was then that as a first time mother I knew there was something unique about my son. He began speech and occupational therapy at age 3 as well as services through the school district. And now its like night and day. Grant has excelled in a way I once believed was impossible. I was told he may not talk....Grant reads 2nd grade level books with no problem, counts til he gets tired, gives his opinions, carries conversations and so on. I was told he may never make friends...my son has friends. Grant went from being self contained in a lcd class to a regular ed kindergarten class in a matter of weeks. His awards are phenomenal. I am so blessed that Autism has touched my life. My son makes me more proud everyday. He tries hard and does his best. I am so grateful for all the resources that were available to my son that helped him cross his toughest milestones. I know there is still a long road ahead and we are soo ready for it.
