SNIP-ITS KIDS HAIR SALON TO OPEN IN LEXINGTON
--Grand Opening to Help Support Children with Autism in the Midlands Area--
LEXINGTON, SC (Feb. XX, 2011) – Snip-its (www.snipits.com), one of the country’s fastest-growing chains of children’s hair salons, is opening in Lexington, S.C. on Feb. 25. The salon will be located in the Hope Ferry shopping center on Sunset Boulevard, and will offer children’s haircuts, spa services, birthday parties, entertainment, prizes, natural hair products, accessories, toys, and more. As part of its grand opening, Snip-its Lexington, SC will donate 20 percent of its proceeds to the South Carolina Autism Society (SCAS). The money raised will help SCAS support families and children with autism in the area through its programs and services. Grand opening events will take place Friday, Feb. 25 – Sunday, Feb. 27. Children will enjoy $10.00 haircuts (with a coupon), face painting, sand art, prizes and more.
The Snip-its Corporation partnered with the national Autism Speaks organization to create a haircutting guide for stylists and parents of children with autism. All of Snip-its’ stylists are trained to work with children with autism and other special needs. In addition to donating 20 percent of its grand opening profits to SCAS, Snip-its Lexington, SC will allow haircut appointments to be made for children with autism and other special needs on an ongoing basis. (Appointments are generally not accepted.)
First launched in 1995 by founder Joanna Meiseles, Snip-its has since been revolutionizing the hair care industry by creating a branded entertainment concept designed to untangle the hair-care challenges of children. Currently, Snip-its has more than 60 locations in 26 U.S. states. The Lexington, SC location is the first salon for owners Jill and Gil Davis.
“Gil and I are thrilled to be able to share the Snip-its experience with Lexington and love that the concept helps children form positive associations with hair care and promotes self-esteem at an early age. Our goal is to provide a destination where children and parents’ needs and expectations are met and often exceeded,” said Jill Davis. “We chose Lexington for our first location in the Midlands because we love calling it home, and we know the community will welcome the concept with open arms. As a community partner, we are excited to donate a portion of our grand opening proceeds to the South Carolina Autism Society, and look forward to building a lasting partnership with this critical organization.”

A Cut Above the Rest With life-size characters, music and games, Snip-its has turned what was once a tedious chore into an amazing adventure, filled with fun, games and excitement. Upon entering the Snip-its salon, parents and children step into a magical cartoon world of adventure characterized by floor-to-ceiling cartoon murals and splashy vibrant colors. In the waiting area, they can enjoy the Snip-its show, featuring a whimsical cast of cartoon characters or visit the retail space to browse the natural hair care products, hair and fashion accessories, and toys. Each cutting station includes a special chair for parents to sit close at hand, and an entertainment station featuring custom computer games and activities. Upon completion of the haircut, children insert a lock of hair into the “Snip-its Magic Box” for a prize. Snip-its Lexington, SC also offers a “baby’s first haircut” package, which includes a haircut certificate, lock of hair and commemorative photo.
It’s My Party… In addition to hair care, the Lexington, SC location will offer spa services, such as mini manicures, pedicures and facials, and birthday parties. Children can select from one of five fun-filled-themed parties, including: · Glamour Party – The birthday girl and up to 9 special guests glam it up in feathers, sequins and sparkles, complete with nails, makeup and hair. · Spa Party – Pampered is the key word here. The birthday girl and 9 guests wear pink and purple VIP robes for an afternoon of cucumber facials and their choice of either a mini manicure or mini pedicure. · Trip-to-Hollywood Party – This is for the little star who belongs on the red carpet, surrounded by paparazzi after the birthday girl and her 9-person entourage get the movie-star makeover with hair, nails and makeup. · Rock Star Party - Kids dreaming of becoming the next Hannah Montana or Justin Bieber will love this party theme, which includes getting the “rock-star treatment” of a funky hairstyle, makeup, nails and accessories. The little Rock Star then jams to karaoke tunes with 9 of his/her biggest fans. · Slumber Jam Party – It’s a pretend sleepover! The birthday girl and 9 friends get to wear their pajamas for this party, while they do each other’s makeup and nails. Of course, dancing and singing are part of the “sleepover” fun.
All parties include invitations; cupcakes; a kid-friendly, age-appropriate craft; and party favors for guests to take home.
