Information & Referral

Information and Referral is the cornerstone program for the South Carolina Autism Society. SCAS aims to help provide accurate and timely information to families and professionals about autism spectrum disorders and services available through out the state. SCAS has dedicated staff to assist families in their understanding of ASDs. Often a newly diagnosed family call can take an hour or more.

SCAS provides an informational booklet to families. This is filled with information and resources. Our Information and Referral Specialist assists families to navigate the service system. Depending where a family is along the process, the I&R Specialist leads them to the next step and provides information on what happens after that. Additionally, the I&R Specialist will help families locate information about various treatment options.

Through this program, SCAS also publishes an electronic newsletter to help keep families and other interested people informed on what is happening in South Carolina around ASD.

Each fall, SCAS holds our Annual Conference. We bring in national experts and local programs. SCAS also host a variety of workshops through out the year. Both the conference and the workshops are designed to help people learn about best practices in the area of autism.
