SC Autism Society Expansion Campaign“How can I reach you so that I can teach you, open up the world and put it in your hand, cast out those shadows, replace them with meadows, how can I finally help you understand? Help me break those chains that hold your precious mind…” These words were written by Tammy Vice, Country Singer from Nashville, whose daughter was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of three. The South Carolina Autism Society (SCAS) is helping to “break those chains” in our state. SCAS has for over 36 years, played a vital role and is the only statewide organization providing help across South Carolina supporting families, researchers, and educational professionals. We help families with our Parent-School Partnership program, service coordination, information and referral, training opportunities, workshops, and conferences. We now know autism occurs in as many as 1 in 150 individuals, according to the CDC. In South Carolina alone, there are over 28,000 individuals with autism spectrum disorders who need our help. To provide this help, we at the South Carolina Autism Society (SCAS) have begun our Expansion Campaign. Parts of the vision to increase support is our investment in a new headquarters facility in the midlands of South Carolina, a new satellite office in Greenville joined our Myrtle Beach satellite office, and soon we'll be expanding into Charleston. While our new facility is located in the midlands, we service the entire state. This facility includes 4,500 feet of space, including a large Training Room that accommodates classes, workshops, support groups, and family events. As we begin our Expansion Campaign, we ask that you help us raise the money to pay for this facility. Our goal is $550,000: We are off to a great start, having raised $183,000 to date. Help us keep this momentum going! We will structure your gift in a way that is easiest for your budget, including multi-level and multi-year pledges. We are mindful of the financial burdens you face, yet for us to make lasting change here in our state requires hard dollars. Of every dollar we raise, 92¢ goes directly to our efforts. PLEASE join us as we continue to do our part for South Carolina families. SCAS is the catalyst for change in South Carolina. “…open up the world and put it in your hand, cast out those shadows and replace them with meadows, open your eyes to the colors of rainbows, how can I help you understand… please help me break those chains.” PLEASE help the South Carolina Autism Society today! Thank you. Warm regards, Craig C. Stoxen |
