A workshop entitled "Autism 101" was offered at the South Carolina Autism Society's 2001 and 2002 Conferences. It was intended for newly diagnosed families, as well as professionals (teachers, service coordinators, etc.) new to the field of autism. "Autism 101" was prepared and presented by Beverly McCarty of the Family Resource Center for Disabilities and Special Needs in Charleston. Information includes telephone numbers of organizations in SC, web sites of interest, a list of commonly used abbreviations, milestones of growth and development, speech and language milestones, basic information on special education, and tips on advocacy. | |
